A website from UGA Cooperative Extension

I am excited to share information about the Southern Region 4-H Teen Leadership Conference (SRTLC), which is scheduled for September 20-23, 2018, at the Clyde M. York 4-H Center in Crossville, TN.  Crossville is about 3 hours north of Atlanta and is located in the Central time zone.  This event is open to senior 4-H members (ages 14-18, grades 9-12).  Adults may also apply to attend as chaperones.

SRTLC is an outstanding opportunity to help youth develop leadership skills, citizenship skills, and help them find opportunities to put those skills to use in their community. Plus, it is one of the best ways to meet 4-H’ers from other states and learn about their 4-H programs!  Georgia information for the conference is available at: georgia4h.org/srtlc/.

The Georgia cost is $230.00 per 4-H’er this year, which includes transportation.  The sign-up deadline  is Friday, August 31st at 5:00 PM.

WORKSHOPS AND FUNSHOPS NEEDED! I encourage every 4-H’er and adult attending to apply to serve as a Workshop or Funshop instructor during the conference.  These are usually youth-adult teams and would be a great chance to showcase the fantastic work we have going on in Georgia!  We will need lots of them to be offered. This would make a terrific regional teaching activity for your 4-H’ers to include in their portfolio!  These proposals will be accepted until September 4, 2018.  Please use this application to apply to teach workshops/funshops: https://uky.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_7418gOyRGyQkHzv

EXHIBITS: Counties and 4-H’ers are also encouraged to bring exhibits for the State Showcase. Apply for an exhibit using this application, which is also due by September 4th: https://ugeorgia.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_cG7YwSHy8DsEzDn

Check-in for this event will begin at 4 p.m. in Crossville on Thursday, September 20, 2018, and check-out will take place from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 23, 2018.  Georgia departure and arrival times will be posted accordingly as we finalize our transportation plan.

If you have any questions at all, please contact me.  I think this conference is a great one for our high school 4-H’ers to get a unique Southeast 4-H experience and would love to have 4-H’ers attend from Gordon County!
