Chief among them is this is the best way to ensure freshness. Purchasing &#8220;in season&#8221; means that you are consuming the fruits and veggies soon after they are harvested. This means that you are getting produce directly from local producers and it likely has not been in storage conditions very long. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Economically, buying from local growers helps you as well because the produce doesn&#8217;t have to travel from another region where the weather conditions can support growing out of season.
