About<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Georgia Master Gardener Extension Volunteer (MGEV) Program<\/strong> connects UGA Extension, plant enthusiasts, and communities across the state. MGEVs share UGA Extension consumer horticulture programming about selection and care of plants for ornamental value, recreation, and home food production. Master Gardeners teach community members how to use plants and gardening to improve their environment, personal health, and quality of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Master Gardener Volunteers must attend 42 hours of in-class education and 50 hours of volunteer service in order to earn their title. Each year following, there is a requirement of 10 hours of continuing education and 25 hours of volunteer service to retain the title. These Volunteers are well trained and offer educational programs focusing on Home Lawn, Gardens, and Landscaping.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Glynn County is home to a Master Gardener program. Projects that the Glynn MGEV have worked on include 4-H Garden Club <\/span>(open to all 4th-12th grade students in Glynn or McIntosh), Meet Me in the Garden<\/span> (see below), Starting and Maintaining the Madge Merritt 4-H Teaching Garden<\/span>, Establishing a Garden Club at<\/span> Hand in Hand<\/span> <\/a>(tiny homes for the Glynn residents who are experiencing homelessness), Running a “Friends” program<\/span> for others to volunteer alongside the MGEV, and more! These volunteers also put in great effort to help homeowners answer their individual questions by performing site visits or responding to calls\/emails that come into the Extension Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meet Me in the Garden<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Each month, join the Glynn County Master Gardener Volunteers on the first Saturday from 10:00AM-12:00AM<\/strong>. At this event, they will share a brief presentation on a selected topic, provide a tour of projects they are working on in the Madge Merritt 4-H Teaching Garden, and open the floor for questions you may have about your own lawn and garden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
