Youth can experience 4-H in every county of the state through in-school and after-school programs, community clubs, project work, and 4-H camps.

Georgia 4-H’s roots have always been in science programming . “Science is the pursuit and application of knowledge and understanding of the natural and social world following a systematic methodology based on evidence,” (The Science Council). G.C. Adams’ corn-growing projects with young boys followed the scientific method. Young boys used a systematic method as they planned, planted, and harvested their corn, using their evidence to make decisions for future plantings. Today’s 4-H members participate in a wide range of natural science programming. From robotics to environmental education, Georgia 4-H members have the opportunity to develop valuable life skills through science activities. National 4-H Council also recognizes Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) and Agriculture as a core program area.

For more information, contact your local UGA County Extension office.

4-H is the nation’s largest youth leadership development organization, empowering nearly six million young people across the United States.
