Mondays can be rough. I appreciate those who tackle the start of the week with eagerness and optimism. I have to ease back into the workweek, usually with a few cups of coffee or tea. However, I’m encouraged by something that hits my inbox every Monday morning – an e-newsletter from The Science House.

I’m not a fan of junk mail (both the real stuff and electronic), so if I’ve subscribed to something, it’s going to be good. Founded in 1991, The Science House bridges resources from North Carolina State University to K-12 students in formal and informal settings. Each Monday morning, I’m greeted with their weekly electronic newsletter. The content is well-presented and the topics are engaging and fun. Consider signing up for it!

In addition to the e-newsletter, The Science House Express has published science content packets, designed to be completed weekly.

  • Mondays – Selected Science Resources for teachers and parents
  • Wednesdays – A Virtual Science Activity for K-12 students
  • Fridays – Fun Interviews with expert scientists

Finally, I encourage you to check out their lesson plans. The Countertop Chemistry resource alone contains 27 activities that could easily be incorporated into in- and after-school 4-H programs.

May your Mondays be a bit brighter thanks to The Science House. Wishing you minimal cups of coffee and maximum productivity. Happy Science!
