Wednesday concluded with a tour of the USS Alabama and dinner in an old airplane hanger. The tour of the USS Alabama was a real treat. The Alabama is a\u00a0South Dakota-class battleship, and was the sixth ship of the United States Navy named after the US state of Alabama. The Alabama was commissioned in 1942 and served in World War II in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. It was very impressive to see how advanced wartime technology was during WWII.<\/p>\n

Jimmy Parnell of the Alabama Farmers Federation addressed everyone before supper. The Alabama Farmers Federation is comparable to our Georgia Farm Bureau, in terms of representing farmers’ interests and issues related to their well being. Supper was held in an old aircraft hanger that now serves as a museum and a place to hold meetings.
