Agriculture & Natural Resources Updates for Fannin & Gilmer Counties

Each year the North Georgia Master Gardener Extension Volunteers coordinate a Plant Sale, of which all profits are used to provide college scholarships for Fannin and Copper Basin High School students pursuing higher education in an agriculture-related field.

After much work and collaborative planning, the North Georgia Master Gardeners and the Fannin County Extension Office are pleased to announce that this year’s sale will take place on Saturday, May 8th, from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

We’re also excited to announce that this year we have partnered with the Fannin County School System to host our spring plant sale at the Fannin County Agriculture Center, located at 43 Station Road in Blue Ridge. If you’re unsure on how to get to the Agriculture Center, please reach out to the Fannin County Extension office and we’ll be happy to provide you with directions.

Offerings from this year’s sale will include:

  • Native and non-native plants
  • Perennials and annuals
  • Plants for sun and shade

Payment:

  • Cash or check only, please! We will NOT be able to process any credit cards at the sale.
  • Please, make checks payable to Fannin Extension.
This year’s offerings will include both native and nonnatives, annuals and perennials, as well as sun and shade loving options.

In an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the North Georgia Master Gardeners, UGA Extension, and the Fannin County School System Agriculture Education Department, are taking steps to keep our community and volunteers healthy. All staff and volunteers at the sale will be practicing recommended social distancing and current COVID-19 safety guidelines.

Plants add beauty and benefits for wildlife and pollinators, and gardening also serves as peaceful therapy for our minds – just ask any of our Master Gardeners and I’m sure they’d agree! The North Georgia Master Gardeners have worked diligently to organize this plant sale and look forward to donating the proceeds to local high school scholarships for next year’s graduates.

Additionally, one of the biggest benefits of purchasing plants at the Master Gardener Plant Sale is that it gives local gardeners an opportunity to purchase a wide variety of locally grown perennials, shrubs and other plants that are well suited to our climate. Master Gardeners will also be present at the sale to answer all of your questions!
