The Effingham County UGA Extension and Effingham County Young Farmers will host a Small Ruminant Workshop and FAMACHA Certification Course on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Honey Ridge Agrcenter in Guyton. The event will take place at the Honey Ridge Arena, located at 477 Honey Ridge Road. Participants will benefit from hands-on learning and expert instruction from Holly Anderson, ANR Extension Agent from Irwin County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Registration is required to attend. Participants can register by scanning the QR code on the event flyer, visiting https:\/\/bit.ly\/25efcamacha<\/a>, or by contacting a sponsor before the registration deadline. The course cost is $20, which includes lunch, FAMACHA certification card, and resource materials. Payment can be made via cash, check, or credit card at check-in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This program will provide valuable training in parasite management for small ruminants, equipping producers with practical skills to evaluate and maintain herd health. FAMACHA certification is a widely recognized tool for identifying animals in need of treatment for barber pole worm infestations, helping producers reduce unnecessary deworming and slow the development of parasite resistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
