The Candler County Extension Office and Evans County Extension Office will be offering opportunities for pesticide applicators to complete the Using Pesticides Wisely (UPW) training that is required by law for applicators to apply auxin herbicides (Dicamba and 24-D) over-the-top of Dicamba or 24-D tolerant cotton or soybeans. All applicators must have a valid pesticide license registered with the Georgia Department of Agriculture and complete the training once per year to be compliant with the current label that is considered the law. There will one UPW training offered in Metter on the March 24, 2022 at 9 am at the Candler County Extension Office, and another UPW training in Claxton on March 29, 2022 at 9 am at the Evans County Extension Office. If you cannot attend one of these two meeting opportunities, and still need to be trained please contact the Candler or Evans County Office and we will make accommodations for you. Applicators that attended one of the Weed Production Meetings offered earlier in the year will not need to attend because they have already been trained. One hour of private pesticide credits will be offered for attending one of these trainings too. Please contact the Candler or Evans County office to RSVP that you will be attending. No meal will be served.
