Last night, the University of Georgia’s Animal and Dairy Science Department hosted its Annual Departmental Banquet. In attendance were numerous students, parents, and faculty members. In addition, the group was privileged to have present for the scholarship program CAES Dean Dr. Sam Pardue, UGA Assistant Dean of Extension – Dr. Mark McCann, and Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs – Dr. Jean Bertrand. There were numerous scholarships awarded throughout the course of the evening with a high proportion of them used to support students with interests in the dairy industry. Thomas H. Resseau Scholarship recipient – Nathan Webb from Georgia wants to pursue graduate school in the field of dairy cattle nutrition
Louis J. Boyd Scholarship recipient – Sarah Jane Thomsen from Roanoke, VA wants to pursue a job in the field of extension
H.D. Thames Dairy Scholarship recipient – Mary Wright from Yardley, PA wants to be a large animal veterinarian with a focus in dairy cattle
Herbert Henderson Scholarship recipient – Matthew Holton from Dawsonvill, GA wants to become a veterinarian specializing in cattle reproduction
SE Milk Scholarship recipient – Kayla Alward from Guyton, GA wants to work in the dairy industry as a reproductive specialist
Benjamin Forbes Outstanding Dairy Science Senior – Brooke Helton from Cleveland, GA wants to open her own large animal practice one day while having a small herd of Holsteins
