Just a quick reminder from Dr. Phillip Roberts for all of us to continue scouting for this pest as a second generation, meaning: more damaging caterpillars, is currently upon us:
“We should expect another generation of corn earworm in the coming days depending on location. We have received reports of increased moth activity in southernmost Georgia. Remember that no cotton is immune from corn earworm, even 3 gene Bt cottons. Obviously, we are at greater risk of corn earworm in 2 gene Bt cottons compared with 3 gene Bt cottons but it is important that we scout all cottons. When escapes occur in Bt cotton they are generally found in blooms or the first few nodes below the uppermost bloom. Be sure to look under stuck bloom tags.”
