The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association will be hosting a webinar this Thursday (Nov 21st) at 7p CDT, 8p Eastern Time, discussing what feed to use when grazing forages go dormant.

More info and to register click here: https://www.ncba.org/cattlemenswebinarseries.aspx

Summary: “During winter, many cattlemen and women utilize harvested forages and even crop residues to serve as the primary diet for their cattle when most grazing forages go dormant. However, many of these feedstuffs may not meet the dietary requirements of the animal. Join Dr. Tryon Wickersham, Texas A&M; Dr. Eric Bailey, University of Missouri; and Dr. Mary Drewnoski, University of Nebraska as they cover the importance of supplementing your herd when generally lower quality feedstuffs make up a majority of the animals diet specific to regions across the U.S.”

Lastly, here is a link to a Beef Tips ‘n Advice blog post originally written for Progressive Cattlemen, talking about hay and supplementation through fall and winter:  https://site.extension.uga.edu/beef/2019/11/preparing-for-fall-through-winter-calving-and-breeding/

Thanks.

Best Wishes,

Joshua Grant
