“Water, Wings and Wildlife” (W3) is the Ablany Aquariums yearly educational outreach event for everything flying, crawling and swimming. Usually occurring in late September, 2019’s celebration started today with area school’s/home-schoolers visiting booths consisting of live insects, tortoises, snakes, owls, alligators…etc.

The 2019 crew from Chehaw proudly show off their snakes, hedgehog, and screech owl!

Its a chance for youth and adults alike to tap into their inner naturalist and learn about the fascinating environment around them.

The value of taxidermy in preserving wildlife specimens for research and aesthetics is immeasurable.

W3 continues tomorrow ( Sat, Sep 28th, 2019) with exhibitors being open to the public starting at 10a and running till 5p.

Myself showing off a rose haired tarantula back at this event in 2017. This year I’ve got a curly haired tarantula.

Exhibitors include: SOWEGA Beekeepers, GA DNR, Albany Audubon Society, Chehaw Park Zoo and much much more. I’ll also be there for the third year in a row with a table on insect/arthropod diversity.

Alighted monarchs in the butterfly tent. Come on in and become enveloped by these beautiful insects.

This post is not directly Ag related but still wanted to promote this wonderful local educational event. Please plan to stop by the Flint RiverQuarium tomorrow or mark your calendar for next year if you’re seeing this past the 2019 event.

Visitors meeting Wild Wing’s great horned owl!

This year’s schedule linked here. Times are subject to change.

Thanks!

Best Wishes,

Joshua Grant
