Even though this is late, as many acres of cotton have already been sprayed and bales have been processed at our two gins, I wanted to make these two defoliation slides available because I’ve had questions from Crisp Co producers about UGA recommendations on rates and chemicals. The slides below mention many herbicides y’all may have already been using for years, especially the three-way mix of “Prep + Dropp + Folex” but is shared here because of their effectiveness; reiterated annually to agents by UGA’s Cotton Agronomist: Jared Whitaker. I hope they are helpful if not now, then in the future.

Also, y’all cotton producers out there are probably already looking at the market prices daily and know where (ballpark) your individual break even cents/lb is. And that the low prices currently don’t need to be mentioned.  All that said, the UGA 2019 Cotton Market Outlook document (Sep 18) and USDA’s Weekly Cotton Market Review (Sep 20) still have some interesting statistics.

Please, if you have any questions on Cotton as we continue into harvest time don’t hesitate to contact me at: (229)-417-7062.

Thanks!

Best Wishes,

Joshua Grant
