{"id":393,"date":"2018-08-17T14:49:57","date_gmt":"2018-08-17T18:49:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/cook\/?p=393"},"modified":"2018-08-17T15:07:19","modified_gmt":"2018-08-17T19:07:19","slug":"393","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/cook\/2018\/08\/393\/","title":{"rendered":"Bermudagrass Stem Maggots, Peanut Maturity, Cotton Defoliation Update Mtg"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Bermudagrass Stem Maggots<\/h3>\n<p>Bermudagrass stem maggots (BSM) are not hard to find in hay fields and pastures now.\u00a0 Damaged stems will have dead tops which can be pulled apart from the main stem (see image below).\u00a0 Sometimes the maggot will come out with the dead stem. <em>&#8220;Suppressing BSM can be effective when a recommended rate of an insecticide<\/em> (pyrethroid at lowest labeled rate) <em>is applied after the bermudagrass has begun to regrow (7 to 10 days after cutting) following an affected harvest.\u00a0 A second application can be made 7 &#8211;
