Lesser Cornstalk Borers (LCB) like hot, dry, conditions and peanut fields with a lot of exposed sand. There is one report of a field that had enough LCB to warrant treatment on the west side of Berrien County (AKA “West Berrien”) according to Berrien Co Ag Agent Ben Reeves.

Threshold is: 30 to 50% spots checked in a field have webbing, silk tubes or caterpillars. Below are images from Ben of the caterpillar and its silk tube:
