Below is a summary from two peanut variety trials this year 2024 in Cook County. Thank you to M&M Lindsey Farm, Ty Baker and UGA Peanut Team for collaborating on these trials to produce local data for peanut producers. Please call if you have questions. Tucker 229 507 8862.

Two sites were selected for trial to evaluate varieties in irrigated and non irrigated conditions. Irrigated location consisted of Stillson loamy sand (Se) soil and was planted in 38” single rows 26 May in strip tillage.  Previous crop was corn.  Varieties replicated 3X and consisted of 4 rows X 500’ length. TSWV ratings collected 17 September. Stand counts collected 5 June.  Trial inverted 18 October; harvested 24 October.  Non-Irrigated location consisted of Tifton Loamy Sand (TqB) and Irvington Loamy Sand (IjA) soil and was planted 1 June in conventional tillage twin rows.  Previous crop was cotton. Varieties replicated 3X (exception, GA-21GR and AU-NPL17 – Rep 2X) and consisted of 6 rows X 500’ length.  TSWV ratings collected 24 September. Stand counts collected 12 June.  Inverted 25 October;  Harvested 1 November.
