{"id":1351,"date":"2016-06-20T12:34:43","date_gmt":"2016-06-20T16:34:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/colquittag\/?p=1351"},"modified":"2016-06-20T12:35:50","modified_gmt":"2016-06-20T16:35:50","slug":"supplemental-prowl-label-for-forages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/colquittag\/2016\/06\/supplemental-prowl-label-for-forages\/","title":{"rendered":"Supplemental Prowl H2O Label for Forages!!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Patrick McCullough, UGA Forage Weed Specialist, has informed us that we have received supplemental labels for Prowl H<sub>2<\/sub>O (pendimethalin) that will expand uses for preemergence weed control in pastures and hayfields.<\/p>\n<p>Some highlights from this update for growers in Georgia include:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Labeled species now include tall fescue, orchardgrass, bromegrass, and other cool-season forage grasses.<\/li>\n<li>Prowl H<sub>2<\/sub>O no longer has a pre-harvest or pre-grazing interval restriction.<\/li>\n<li>Split applications are now permitted between cuttings for bermudagrass and other labeled warm-season species that were initially treated in late winter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Prowl H<sub>2<\/sub>O is now the only selective herbicide available for controlling crabgrass, annual foxtails, goosegrass, and other grassy weeds in tall fescue pastures and\u00a0hayfields.\u00a0\u00a0Growers need to apply Prowl H<sub>2<\/sub>O prior to weed seed germination to maximize efficacy for residual control.\u00a0\u00a0Treatments before rainfall are recommended to improve soil incorporation and enhance herbicide activation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>These labeled uses of Prowl H<sub>2<\/sub>O will provide a new tool for weed control in many pasture species.\u00a0\u00a0Growers will need to use Prowl H<sub>2<\/sub>O in programs that include sound cultural and mechanical weed control strategies.\u00a0 Copies of the supplemental labels for cool season and warm season grasses are below.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/colquittag\/files\/2016\/06\/Warm-season-label.pdf\">Warm-season label<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/colquittag\/files\/2016\/06\/Cool-season-label.pdf\">Cool-season label<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Patrick McCullough, UGA Forage Weed Specialist, has informed us that we have received supplemental labels for Prowl H2O (pendimethalin) that will expand uses for preemergence weed control in pastures and hayfields.
