{"id":9835,"date":"2017-01-24T13:11:31","date_gmt":"2017-01-24T18:11:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/climate\/?p=9835"},"modified":"2017-01-24T13:11:31","modified_gmt":"2017-01-24T18:11:31","slug":"pinemap-wins-partnership-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/climate\/2017\/01\/pinemap-wins-partnership-award\/","title":{"rendered":"PINEMAP wins partnership award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pinemap.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pine Integrated Network: Education, Mitigation, and Adaptation project<\/a>, better known as PINEMAP, began in 2012 when Tim Martin, professor of tree physiology at the University of Florida, along with representatives from 11 southeastern land-grant universities and a host of other research cooperatives, proposed a five-year research project to determine how changes to climate could affect pine forests in the southeastern United States. \u00a0In a story from Forest Business Networks, &#8220;according to Professor <a href=\"https:\/\/frec.vt.edu\/people\/fox\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Thomas Fox<\/a>, who serves as the lead principal investigator on the <a href=\"https:\/\/cnre.vt.edu\/magazine\/articles\/research-spotlight\/201502\/pinemap-scientists-work-toward-sustainably-managing-southern-pine-plantations.html\" target=\"_blank\">portion of the project<\/a> in Virginia Tech\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/cnre.vt.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">College of Natural Resources and Environment<\/a>, PINEMAP initially had three main goals: research, outreach, and education.
