The preliminary damage reports of Hermine’s passage through the Southeast show that the majority of the damage was due to power outages and downed trees, with a few reports of isolated tornadoes. \u00a0Online Athens<\/em> reported that over 107,000 homes in Georgia and an estimated 325,000 people in Florida lost power during the storm’s passage but that damage generally was less than expected. \u00a0Rainfall amounts were also lower than predicted in many areas. \u00a0You can read their report at\u00a0https:\/\/onlineathens.com\/local-news\/2016-09-02\/hermine-1st-hurricane-hit-florida-coast-decade<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Packer<\/em> noted that the timing of the storm prevented a lot of damage to many crops, which are normally harvested in mid-September or later. \u00a0Heavy rainfall did flood many fields of newly planted bell peppers, cucumbers and squash. \u00a0Their article can be found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n
