{"id":7282,"date":"2016-06-05T15:09:26","date_gmt":"2016-06-05T19:09:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/climate\/?p=7282"},"modified":"2016-06-05T15:09:26","modified_gmt":"2016-06-05T19:09:26","slug":"seeing-changes-from-space-using-nasa-satellites","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/climate\/2016\/06\/seeing-changes-from-space-using-nasa-satellites\/","title":{"rendered":"Seeing changes from space using NASA satellites"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NASA provides a lot of spectacular images from space, but also does a lot of research on changes in the earth&#8217;s surface due to human activity as well as changes in climate on different time scales. \u00a0Here are a couple of examples I ran across this week.<\/p>\n<p><em>Vox.com<\/em> posted a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/2016\/5\/28\/11802608\/lake-mead-shrinkage-NASA\">story<\/a> based on NASA&#8217;s Earth Observatory showing the shrinking of Lake Mead in Arizona over the last 15 years. \u00a0Extended drought in the area has led to a loss of more than half the water in the reservoir, which supplies not only Arizona but also California, Nevada and Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>This week NASA published another story showing the greening of the Arctic due to warmer temperatures in recent years.
