{"id":4707,"date":"2015-10-11T15:28:58","date_gmt":"2015-10-11T19:28:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/climate\/?p=4707"},"modified":"2015-10-11T15:28:58","modified_gmt":"2015-10-11T19:28:58","slug":"ex-hurricane-oho-going-where-few-hurricanes-have-gone-before-alaska","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/climate\/2015\/10\/ex-hurricane-oho-going-where-few-hurricanes-have-gone-before-alaska\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Ex-Hurricane Oho Going Where Few Hurricanes Have Gone Before: Alaska&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Jeff Masters of <em>Weather Underground<\/em> had an interesting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wunderground.com\/blog\/JeffMasters\/comment.html?entrynum=3150\" target=\"_blank\">blog entry<\/a> about hurricanes that reach northern locations.\u00a0 He pointed out that the storm that used to be Hurricane Oho in the Central Pacific was now headed for the Alaskan Panhandle, where it was expected to cause strong wind gusts and heavy surf along the Aleutian Islands.\u00a0 He points out that &#8220;an unusual number of these storms have occurred in the past two years&#8211;four out of the ten storms.
