{"id":4192,"date":"2015-08-28T15:21:34","date_gmt":"2015-08-28T19:21:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/climate\/?p=4192"},"modified":"2015-08-28T15:23:14","modified_gmt":"2015-08-28T19:23:14","slug":"ethredge-what-to-expect-this-winter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/climate\/2015\/08\/ethredge-what-to-expect-this-winter\/","title":{"rendered":"Ethredge: What to expect this winter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rome Ethredge posted some notes on what to expect this winter from\u00a0a recent meeting of Southeast Climate Consortium members. \u00a0You can read the original post and see some pictures from the meeting at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/seminolecropnews.wordpress.com\/2015\/08\/27\/wet-winter-predicted\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/seminolecropnews.wordpress.com\/2015\/08\/27\/wet-winter-predicted<\/a>\/.<\/p>\n<p>Here are his take-away points from the meeting, based on the highly probable occurrence of a strong El Nino. \u00a0Keep in mind that he is located in southwest Georgia, so if you are reading this from a different location your results might vary, although El Nino effects are expected to impact all of the Southeast to some degree this year.<\/p>\n<div class=\"clear\">A. \u00a0There is a high probability that we will be cooler and wetter this fall and winter.<\/div>\n<div class=\"clear\">B. \u00a0We could start to see more \u201cwet\u201d as early as next month. Especially November through March.<\/div>\n<div class=\"clear\">C. \u00a0Growers should NOT delay harvest as wet weather later may keep them out of the fields entirely.<\/div>\n<div class=\"clear\">D. \u00a0Growers should not delay establishing cover crops.<\/div>\n<div class=\"clear\">E. \u00a0Growers should be aware that early corn planting next year might be affected.<\/div>\n<div class=\"clear\">F. \u00a0Could be tough to put out Telone II in the late winter, early spring next year so some may consider a fall 2015 application.
