Heat waves have been in the news lately, not only in the western US but also in Europe. \u00a0One of the stories discusses a possible new high temperature record for the state of Washington, which is currently under strong high pressure and very warm temperatures while we cool off a bit in the Southeast.<\/p>\n

Cliff Mass posted an article in his Pacific Northwest blog this past weekend about the hot temperatures that are affecting their state. \u00a0He also mentioned that there is a potential new high temperature record for the state in this recent hot spell. \u00a0It is too early to say if it is an official record, since there is a long process that has to be undertaken before any new record can be verified, but it shows just how hot it has been out there lately. \u00a0You can read about it at\u00a0https:\/\/cliffmass.blogspot.com\/2015\/06\/heat-surge-hits-eastern-washington.html<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Dr. Jeff Masters of Weather Underground has a blog post which describes the cause of the heat wave in the Northwest here<\/a>. \u00a0The Weather Channel also posted a story about all the records that have been broken here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the heat is also on in western Europe, where temperatures well above 100 F have been observed lately, smashing June records in in some areas.
