Almost 60% of the region is in extreme (D3) drought due to almost no rainfall and warm temperatures. Fortunately, since the cutoff date for this map on Tuesday morning at 8 am, more rain has fallen in the region so the spread of extreme and exceptional drought should stop for now and there could be some areas with a slight improvement, especially if more rain falls over the next few days.
