Rain will start in the northern part of the region and then will fall in central and southern parts. But the rain will not fall in southern Florida, which will remain in its dry season for now. Precipitation amounts could reach as high as 2 inches in isolated parts of eastern Tennessee and western North Carolina. A lot of the northern parts of the region could receive an inch or more, with lesser amounts fall from southern GA and AL into Florida. The rainfall could provide some relief to areas that get an inch or more but there is not likely to be much improvement in areas with lower amounts.

It should also be noted that the medium-range models are showing a chance of freezing conditions as far south as the northern areas of California early next week , although it won’t get as cold as the outbreaks we had in January. The models are currently showing the greatest extent of freezing temperatures will occur on Tuesday although many areas could also see a freeze on Monday and possibly Wednesday. You will want to watch your local forecasts for more detailed information that will likely change over time.

The latest 7-day QPF map shows that more rain should fall across the region this week after a few dry days.
