Areas that are usually free from freezing conditions were busy growing vegetables, strawberries, sweet corn, and citrus until the cold slammed into them. Some freeze protection measures were able to save a portion of the crops, but there were many losses in what is usually a very productive area. Here are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.growingproduce.com\/farm-management\/southeast-u-s-produce-growers-tracking-damage-after-big-chill-photos\/\">some photos of icy orchards<\/a> following the last cold blast from <em>Growing Produce<\/em>. The only crop that appeared to come through unscathed was cabbage, which is capable of withstanding colder temperatures than most crops can.
