{"id":2851,"date":"2015-04-27T16:15:46","date_gmt":"2015-04-27T20:15:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/climate\/?p=2851"},"modified":"2015-04-27T18:07:59","modified_gmt":"2015-04-27T22:07:59","slug":"where-to-get-local-storm-reports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/climate\/2015\/04\/where-to-get-local-storm-reports\/","title":{"rendered":"Where to get local storm reports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When severe weather hits, the National Weather Service collects the information and issues Local Storm Reports for the storm events that are called in. \u00a0They are usually posted on each station&#8217;s web site. \u00a0However, they are text files and it is not always easy to find a report for a specific location.<\/p>\n<p>There are several sites which have the information in a map format to make it easier to find later when you are looking for information for insurance or other reasons. \u00a0Keep in mind that severe weather may have occurred but does not appear in the database if no one reported it. \u00a0There may also be duplication if several reports were made on the same event.<\/p>\n<p>The NOAA Storm Prediction Center collects these reports from NWS stations around the United States and compiles them at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.spc.noaa.gov\/climo\/online\/\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/www.spc.noaa.gov\/climo\/online\/<\/a>. \u00a0The Storm Prediction Center also issues watches around the country, although warnings are sent out by individual NWS offices.
