The seven day QPF forecast for this week shows a continuation of rainy conditions this week across most of the Southeast. \u00a0That is not good news for farmers already struggling with all the rain we’ve been having for the past few weeks. \u00a0But the week won’t be continually rainy, so farmers may be able to take advantage of some dry periods. \u00a0Andy Shirley pointed out in the Mitchell County Ag News<\/em><\/a> this week that some early-planted peanuts in southwest Georgia are starting to emerge two weeks after going into the ground.<\/p>\n

There is some hope for drier conditions ahead. \u00a0The Climate Prediction Center’s 6-10 day forecast shows most of the eastern half of the US in a good chance of drier than normal conditions. \u00a0That would give farmers the chance to catch up on their field work and get the crops in the ground.<\/p>\n
