The National Weather Service is warning people to keep an eye on the weather on Saturday because the threat of severe weather is fairly high. \u00a0You will want to have access to several means of getting warnings, including weather apps on your smartphones, a NOAA weather radio, and broadcast or cable television or internet. \u00a0Don’t count on outdoor sirens (if your community even has them) to protect you, since they may not go off until after the severe weather is already in progress.<\/p>\n

There are two periods of rain expected in northern Georgia–one overnight Friday into Saturday morning, and a second band on Saturday afternoon into evening. \u00a0It’s a tricky forecast because the severity of the storms will depend on how much solar heating we get during the day. \u00a0You can read a discussion of the current weather situation for northeast Georgia at\u00a0https:\/\/www.athensgaweather.com\/category\/daily\/<\/a>. \u00a0Two infographics from NWS offices in Birmingham and Atlanta are shown below.<\/p>\n
