Of course, this year most of the region has not yet received a freeze, but that is likely to change by the first week of December. Today’s GFS model shows that everywhere except for Florida and areas very close to the coast are likely to experience a frost no later than December 6, with more northern areas measuring freezing temperatures several days before that. Of course long range forecasts are likely to change, but it shows the pattern has shifted into a more typical late fall into early winter pattern as it often does in mid-November. Every NWS offices uses a different set of dates to stop their frost/freeze forecasts so your local area may vary. If you still have actively growing crops that you need to protect, you need to watch the forecasts carefully since no freeze warning will be issued.

I received word from the NWS office in Peachtree City today that they are discontinuing their seasonal frost/freeze warnings since they have reached the average date of the end of the growing season as they usually do.
