{"id":27718,"date":"2024-07-27T20:44:54","date_gmt":"2024-07-28T00:44:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/climate\/?p=27718"},"modified":"2024-07-27T20:44:54","modified_gmt":"2024-07-28T00:44:54","slug":"time-the-25-best-disaster-movies-of-all-time-ranked","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/climate\/2024\/07\/time-the-25-best-disaster-movies-of-all-time-ranked\/","title":{"rendered":"Time: The 25 Best Disaster Movies of All Time, Ranked"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Since I went to see <em>Twisters<\/em> today, I thought for some summer fun you might enjoy <em>Time<\/em> magazine&#8217;s list of the <a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/7000440\/best-disaster-movies\/?utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=sfmc&amp;utm_campaign=newsletter+spotlight+default+ac&amp;utm_content=+++20240727+++body&amp;et_rid=207306100&amp;lctg=207306100\">best disaster movies<\/a>, since many of these movies have a weather or climate component. I don&#8217;t agree with all of their rankings but it is fun to see what the rankings are. My own favorite is <em>Deep Impact<\/em>, which talks about what happens when an asteroid hits the earth (you can also read <em>Lucifer&#8217;s Hammer<\/em> for much more detail on this if you like disaster fiction). They really worked to get the science right, unlike many disaster movies. I am happy to say that <em>Twisters<\/em> is better about using accurate science in their move, although other things are still lacking. Remember that a natural hazard does not necessarily have to be a disaster if you are prepared for it.
