{"id":27500,"date":"2024-06-01T20:51:33","date_gmt":"2024-06-02T00:51:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/climate\/?p=27500"},"modified":"2024-06-01T20:51:34","modified_gmt":"2024-06-02T00:51:34","slug":"severe-drought-appears-in-central-florida-this-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/climate\/2024\/06\/severe-drought-appears-in-central-florida-this-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Severe drought appears in central Florida this week"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The latest Drought Monitor, released on Thursday, shows that the only state in the Southeast that has drought is Florida, although a few patches of abnormally dry conditions (D0) are found in Alabama, North and South Carolina, and Virginia. The total area of dry conditions in central Florida has not changed much but a section of that area has now been classified as severe drought (D2) due to the lack of rain and very high temperatures there. There are no dry conditions in Puerto Rico at this time.
