Note that if you have your phone on at 2:20 EDT on Wednesday, October 4, you will here an emergency alert on your cell phones, televisions, and radios. The\u00a0Federal Emergency Management Agency<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Federal Communications Commission<\/a>\u00a0are scheduled to test their National Wireless Emergency Alert System at that time. The run-through will actually consist of two parts, the\u00a0Emergency Alert System<\/a>\u00a0(EAS) and the\u00a0Wireless Emergency Alerts<\/a>\u00a0(WEA). The former will transmit to radios and TVs, while the latter will issue to all consumer cell phones, according to\u00a0FEMA\u2019s announcement<\/a>\u00a0earlier this month. It won’t be a big deal but it’s important to test it so that they know it will work in the case of a real emergency, weather or otherwise.
