First you rescue what you can, then you start to determine how to recover and move on. But for those who remain at the devastated location, they often have to rebuild under updated building codes that are much more expensive to engineer, and many former residents may not be able to come up with the money to live there anymore. The <em>Los Angeles Times<\/em> has a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/world-nation\/story\/2022-10-18\/florida-beachtown-rebuilds-after-hurricane?utm_id=72075&amp;sfmc_id=894154\">story about Mexico Beach<\/a> along the Gulf of Mexico and how those rules are changing the nature of that community.
