It is much rarer to find really strong tornadoes associated with hurricanes. However, as the remains of Hurricane Ida moved into the Northeast and merged with a front, several strong tornadoes formed ahead of the system. One EF 4 tornado made a direct hit on the largest dairy farm in New Jersey, flattening most of the buildings other than the owners&#8217; house. No people were killed in spite of the damage, but at least 300 cows were killed or severely injured.
