Florida and the Panhandle, and above normal for the rest of the State with the exception of south Florida. \u00a0Daytona Beach is at 18.32 inches for the year since Jan. 1, 4.77 inches above normal.\u00a0 Wildfire risk and KBDI values are low for this time of year, except for extreme S. Florida. \u00a0The summer rains should begin in time to ensure a very quiet wildfire season.\u00a0 For a map of KBDI values in Florida, visit<a title=\"KBDI index for Florida 5-21-2014\" href=\"\/\/flame.fl-dof.com\/fire_weather\/KBDI\/index.html\"> https:\/\/flame.fl-dof.com\/fire_weather\/KBDI\/index.html<\/a><\/div>\n<div style=\"font-family: Tahoma;font-size: 13px\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"font-family: Tahoma;font-size: 13px\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 With the current conditions, a little delay to the rainy season would not be harmful. \u00a0In fact, farmers in N. Florida and the Panhandle have been on edge about getting a dry spell to finish (or start in some cases) their planting. \u00a0This current dry spell has been just what they needed. \u00a0Looking at weather forecast models, there is not much chance of rain for the next 7 days. \u00a0Rain chances start to come back into play in week two according to some mid-range models.\u00a0 That being said, there is nothing to point to a delayed rainy season after that. \u00a0El Nino is building in the Pacific and we are now looking at a 75% chance of El Nino in the next one to three months. \u00a0However, El Nino has little impact on our summer rainy season. \u00a0The rains and storminess associated with El Nino don&#8217;t really begin until October or November.\u00a0 El Nino will mean a less active hurricane season.\u00a0 NOAA will release their seasonal hurricane outlook today.<\/div>\n<div style=\"font-family: Tahoma;font-size: 13px\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"font-family: Tahoma;font-size: 13px\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Miami NWS released their rainy season outlook yesterday that has a lot of good information in it. \u00a0They are predicting a bit of a late start to the rainy season, but that is based primarily on the 1-2 week forecast.<\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1400701517363_99657\" style=\"font-family: Tahoma;font-size: 13px\"><a title=\"Rany season outlook\" href=\"https:\/\/www.srh.noaa.gov\/images\/mfl\/news\/RainySeasonOutlook2014.pdf\">https:\/\/www.srh.noaa.gov\/images\/mfl\/news\/RainySeasonOutlook2014.pdf<\/a><\/div>\n<div style=\"font-family: Tahoma;font-size: 13px\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"font-family: Tahoma;font-size: 13px\"><a title=\"Rany season outlook\" href=\"https:\/\/www.srh.noaa.gov\/images\/mfl\/news\/RainySeasonOutlook2014.pdf\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/a>Also, the SFWMD released a hydrologic outlook for the rainy season<\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1400701517363_99662\" style=\"font-family: Tahoma;font-size: 13px\"><a title=\"South Florida WMD outlook\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sfwmd.gov\/portal\/page\/portal\/xrepository\/sfwmd_repository_pdf\/nr_2014_0520_wetseason_outlook.pdf\">https:\/\/www.sfwmd.gov\/portal\/page\/portal\/xrepository\/sfwmd_repository_pdf\/nr_2014_0520_wetseason_outlook.pdf<\/a><\/div>\n<div id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1400701517363_99664\"><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>David Zierden, the Florida State Climatologist, provides this analysis: \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 This spring has been exceptionally rainy for N.
