{"id":19150,"date":"2020-03-25T23:52:01","date_gmt":"2020-03-26T03:52:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/climate\/?p=19150"},"modified":"2020-03-25T23:52:03","modified_gmt":"2020-03-26T03:52:03","slug":"weather-education-resources-for-teachers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/climate\/2020\/03\/weather-education-resources-for-teachers\/","title":{"rendered":"Weather education resources for teachers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Since many people are working from home now, including most students, I thought it might be helpful to provide some links to educational material about weather and climate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today I watched a fantastic live stream on Facebook from the <em>Capital Weather Gang<\/em> about atmospheric optics like rainbows and mirages, and that is archived along with their other lectures at  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/watch\/157306594301935\/\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/watch\/157306594301935\/<\/a> .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The National Weather Service has a long list of links to resources which you can find <a href=\"https:\/\/www.weather.gov\/learning?fbclid=IwAR1bYc0p87NeuoL3FdtErdJLlh61XgER07aFXrjHC9MsjGDexaI0W1t_uv0\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WeatherSTEM has a series of K12 modules which you can find at  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.weatherstem.com\/learn\">https:\/\/www.weatherstem.com\/learn<\/a> .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The National Drought Mitigation Center has a role-playing game based on making decisions due to drought. You can find it at  <a href=\"https:\/\/drought.unl.edu\/Education\/DroughtGame.aspx\">https:\/\/drought.unl.edu\/Education\/DroughtGame.aspx<\/a>  or read more at  <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.unl.edu\/announce\/snr\/9644\/57271\">https:\/\/newsroom.unl.edu\/announce\/snr\/9644\/57271<\/a> .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Southwest Climate Hub has a 5-hour curriculum on agriculture and climate change for grades 6-12 at  <a href=\"https:\/\/swclimatehub.info\/education\/climate-change-and-agriculture\">https:\/\/swclimatehub.info\/education\/climate-and-agriculture<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;RainSphere&#8221; is a new educational portal which allows students to explore climate information at different time and space scales. You can read more about it and find links to a tutorial and the portal at  <a href=\"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/climate\/2017\/05\/rainsphere-a-new-tool-for-exploring-trends-in-satellite-precipitation\/\">https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/climate\/2017\/05\/rainsphere-a-new-tool-for-exploring-trends-in-satellite-precipitation\/<\/a> .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The USDA Forest Service has a resource center which provides educational modules on climate change and how it is likely to affect land use and forests at  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fs.usda.gov\/ccrc\/education\">https:\/\/www.fs.usda.gov\/ccrc\/education<\/a> .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CoCoRaHS has some good resources about using simple weather instruments to study the weather at  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cocorahs.org\/Content.aspx?page=education\">https:\/\/www.cocorahs.org\/Content.aspx?page=education<\/a> .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The National Severe Storms Lab has a good web site with information for students and educators at  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nssl.noaa.gov\/education\/\">https:\/\/www.nssl.noaa.gov\/education\/<\/a> .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Kellogg Biological Station has a number of resources on sustainable agriculture and climate change.
