According to several articles on the internet, this is due to a shortage of trees caused by the 2008 recession (which caused farmers to plant fewer trees), heat, and too much rain in some places in more recent years, which caused a higher death rate than normal in the trees. It normally takes a tree about 9-10 years to grow to the right size for selling at market.
