As expected, the latest Drought Monitor shows an expansion of severe drought in the Southeast. The area of D2 drought is larger than last week in SW Georgia, the Florida panhandle, and SE Alabama. A second area of severe drought has also been introduced into Alabama. The latest seasonal outlook for drought was released this morning and shows that expansion of drought in the region, especially in Georgia, is likely over the next three months.<\/p>\n
