{"id":12812,"date":"2017-10-17T22:49:24","date_gmt":"2017-10-18T02:49:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/climate\/?p=12812"},"modified":"2017-10-17T22:49:24","modified_gmt":"2017-10-18T02:49:24","slug":"wild-weather-can-devastate-apple-crops","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/climate\/2017\/10\/wild-weather-can-devastate-apple-crops\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Wild weather can devastate apple crops&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While apples don&#8217;t grow everywhere in the Southeast because of the warm conditions, they do provide a good crop in the northeast Georgia mountains and points north.\u00a0 Where I grew up in Michigan and Wisconsin, they are a much larger crop.\u00a0 <em>Yale Climate Connections<\/em> provided an interesting story this week on the impacts that warmer weather conditions are having on apple orchards in Wisconsin.\u00a0 Farmers are increasingly turning to insurance to help mitigate the effects of extreme weather in that region.
