One is in the western Gulf of Mexico and is projected as a possible storm from a system that may be forming in the eastern Pacific Ocean and may cross over Mexico into the Gulf. This location is not unusual for a June storm.

The other is from a vigorous tropical wave that just emerged from off of Africa and is now moving its way westward in the Atlantic Ocean. This is more typical of a mid-season hurricane. The percentages at this point aren’t high and any potential impacts several days down the road, but it is a sign that we need to start watching for more tropical activity as the season starts. You can read more about it at Weather Underground at https://www.wunderground.com/cat6/june-surprise-twin-tropical-threats-watch-atlantic?__prclt=GFrtsMPo.

Even though we are only a few weeks into the Atlantic tropical season, today there are two potential areas of development.
