{"id":10705,"date":"2017-04-09T22:38:19","date_gmt":"2017-04-10T02:38:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/climate\/?p=10705"},"modified":"2017-04-09T22:38:19","modified_gmt":"2017-04-10T02:38:19","slug":"10-facts-about-being-a-climate-scientist-from-climate-scientists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/climate\/2017\/04\/10-facts-about-being-a-climate-scientist-from-climate-scientists\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;10 Facts About Being a Climate Scientist\u2014From Climate Scientists&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When someone says to me that the climate is always changing, I inwardly roll my eyes and agree with them that climate has definitely changed over time and is still changing due to natural variability like El Ni\u00f1o (short-term) and orbital variations that cause ice ages (long-term). \u00a0Climatologists have been studying these changes for a long time.<\/p>\n<p>But that does not mean that there are no human causes of changes in climate. \u00a0We see it clearly in urban heat islands and desertification due to land use changes. \u00a0We also see it happening due to increases in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere which are clearly and scientifically linked to the burning of fossil fuels. \u00a0Here is a list of ten things that climatologists know about climate science:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mentalfloss.com\/article\/93365\/10-facts-about-being-climate-scientist-climate-scientists\">https:\/\/mentalfloss.com\/article\/93365\/10-facts-about-being-climate-scientist-climate-scientists<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s important to keep in mind that not everyone who calls themselves a &#8220;climate scientist&#8221;
