The latest Drought Monitor, released this morning, shows that while abnormally dry conditions were whittled away in Georgia and Alabama, the area of severe (D2) drought in Florida expanded to cover over 20 percent of the state (and a very small area of AL south of Mobile), and moderate drought (D1) increased due to very warm temperatures and the lack of rain in the past week. There is hope that rain in the coming few days will improve things or at least halt the expansion of drought in Florida.
