The latest Drought Monitor, released today, shows that moderate drought expanded in Virginia and North and South Carolina under the absence of rain in the last week. Abnormally dry conditions expanded in Georgia and were reintroduced to Alabama, too. Moderate drought and dry conditions also expanded in Puerto Rico. With relatively light rain expected in the next week, I would expect drought to expand more in next week’s map.
