The preliminary climate summary for January 2024 shows that the climate pattern in January was split between wetter and cooler conditions in the western part of the region and warmer and drier conditions in the eastern areas. This reflects the prevailing storm track across Alabama towards the northeast. The rainfall in western sections helped reduce the drought there quite a bit (see my related post today).
