We are about halfway through January 2022 so here’s a quick look at the month so far. The temperature has been warmer than normal across all of the region except for a few pockets in Virginia. That is likely to change in the next couple of weeks as we go through a period of colder weather. Precipitation is highly variable, with many areas receiving up to 400 percent of normal, while other areas nearby received less than 25 percent of normal precipitation, including most of the Florida peninsula. I expect this to change after the storm moves through this weekend.
