Climate Central has a new tool available to show how your city’s climate this past winter compares to all the other winters on record for that station.  You can find the tool on the Weather Channel website by clicking here.

Below I’ve compared Miami FL to Charlotte NC to show the differences between the northern and southern parts of the Southeast.  Miami escaped the worst of the cold outbreaks and ranked in the top third of all winters, which Charlotte was under the influence of the Arctic blasts for much of the winter.  If December had not been so warm, the winter in Charlotte probably would have been even colder.
