If you haven’t been watching astronomy news lately, you may have missed the stories about the total solar eclipse that occurred yesterday in Indonesia and the surrounding regions.

The National Weather Service office in Boise posted a time-lapse video from the Himawari 8 satellite showing the moon’s shadow passing over the earth on their Twitter feed at https://twitter.com/NWSBoise.
Alaska Airlines Flight 870 delayed their departure by 25 minutes so that they would pass through the total eclipse, delighting the passengers (including quite a few astronomers who were hoping for a look).
