The latest Drought Monitor, released today, shows that dry conditions have expanded across the Southeast due to the limited amount of rain that we received in the past week and the warm temperatures that contributed to evaporation. The biggest increases were in Florida and southern GA but there are also smaller patches of increased drought in the Carolinas, Alabama, and Virginia. Unfortunately, most of the rain in the worst-hit areas this week is going to be light so dry conditions are likely to continue to expand on next week’s map.
